Brookland Embraces the Old and the New

Bristling with new developments, Brookland is undergoing a revival of sorts. Residents enjoy peace and quiet in this longstanding DC neighborhood, and an influx of new shops, art studios, restaurants, and apartments is beginning to enliven the area.

Shopping and Points of Interest in Brookland

Brookland’s main commercial strip, 12th Street, is home to a number of mouth-watering eateries such as Brookland’s Finest, Menomale, and brand new Steel Plate.

Known as “Little Rome” because of the concentration of Catholic institutions, Brookland contains hidden gems such as the Mount St. Sepulchre Franciscan Monastery and the Basilica of the National Shrine.

Brookland Real Estate

Serviced by the Brookland/CUA Metro stop, Brookland is tucked away but travel is still convenient. Brookland originally developed as a “streetcar suburb”, and the open space allowed for Victorian and Queen Anne style homes on spacious tree-lined residential streets.

Brookland is home to the Catholic University of America, and neighbors Brentwood, Langdon, Woodridge, and Edgewood.
